Program Summary

Created in October of 2005, Project Fleur-de-lis (PFDL), a program of Mercy Family Center, began as an intermediate and long-term school-based mental health service model for youth exposed to traumatic events in the Greater New Orleans area following Hurricane Katrina. Today, PFDL is a collaborative program linking local social service agencies, schools, nationally recognized researchers, program developers, and clinicians in a coordinated effort to provide state-of-the-art mental health services within our schools and community. These services include evidence-based treatments, suicide prevention, and crisis response through trauma, grief, bereavement, and restorative lenses. PFDL places a strong emphasis on workforce development by providing education and training for the local school and community workforce, as well as the incoming workforce through experienced and structured internship opportunities.
